Weird food. I had a bowl of bready pretzels with like cheese and guacamole with salsa and sour cream, we also had the weirdest jalapeno poppers ever – huge bready things. They have a BBQ situation and the pulled pork was pretty tasty, but generally, terrible kitchen.

Surprisingly small little pub offering Indian street food. It’s very tasty, although don’t make the mistake of trying to eat just small plates. You really want to have one of their mains and maybe a couple of small plates. But delicious, and lovely people.

Been meaning to go here for ages and it is really, really good. Great home made chips and guac (really good guac), then a great selection of small plates – we had chicken croquettes with orange and habenero jam, cactus and smoked cheese hash browns, and crispy pork belly. Then two crispy oyster mushroom tacos. All in the £9-£10 range, but very generous servings. Plus, the tequila and margaritas are amazing!

Been meaning to go here for ages, and had delicious random Asian fusion sharing plates – crispy gyoza, bao, siu mai, crispy chicken. Surprisingly huge with multiple floors and roof terraces.

Been meaning to come here for a long time! A charming little “traditional” style tapas place, unlike most which tend to try and be cool. Just really tasty tapas and nice people.

A cute little spot right on the water (as much as you get in Brighton), and a really interesting seafood menu. Steak pretty good too but the creative starters a real highlight.

A cute little place, with very nice dumplings, and tasty herby fries. But the bao buns were really pretty basic and just ok. Much better going to the Pond which is nearby.
Verdict: Ok

It’s a burger place and it’s fine. The chicken strips were also fine. The cajun seasoning on the chips was pretty good. Just not better than the existing good burger joints.

One of the North Laine pubs built into a shopping street, but surprisingly spacious and a very pleasant vibe. They serve Pieminister pies with mash and gravy. Pieminister do a good pie, but my chicken/ham/leek was overdone (I presumed heated in the oven), but was ok with the gravy. However: pie, mash, gravy and a pie for £10, so insane value. Points for value, not so much for selection.
