Tiny reviews of Brighton food and drink
Super cool independent pizza place with delivery thanks to Deliveroo. Cool menu – we had a Funghi with field, shiitake, chestnut and oyster mushrooms with garlic, parmesan, thyme and truffle oil, and a Jakub with chorizo, pork and wild boar salami, caramelised onion, dollops of mascarpone, dried chilli flakes and oregano. Even the menu is well considered and it translates to very delicious pizza.
Verdict: Awesome

Pizza delivery outfit that has really committed to an amusing “ME” based menu structure. Eg “Where’sMEspecks” and personal favourite “ButterMEnuts”. Worth a look for this alone. Pizza-wise it was pretty ok. Two tasty pizzas, delivered in an hour. Thought the MeatME was really pretty stingy with the meat, which prevents it being awesome.
Verdict: Ok

We had delivery which was super fast, and very good value. Tasty too, with the one proviso that everything was spicier than expected – even green curry!

Neapolitan pizza, renowned in Brighton and Hove but honestly, only ok. Pizza pretty good, but Brighton is lousy with top flight Neapolitan pizzerias. Cheap, yes, but the place is small, hot, and pretty plain. Basically, you’ll have a pretty solid meal but much better to be had.
Edit 25/3/20: Had a delivery from these guys and it was amazing, so just get delivery!

Shack serving up “organic dirty burgers” under the Trafalgar Street Arches. Tricky this. Proprietor is lovely, and the burger I had was EXTREMELY tasty…but tiny for the money, which can be just under £10 for not much. Clearly made with love, but too expensive for what it is.

Fried chicken delivered, and have to say, very well done. The true test of fried chicken delivery is the chips. Hot? Or cold and soggy? Difficult to achieve. LFC, who in fairness are very close to my house, did very well. Nuggets, popcorn chicken, chips, garlic bread, all good.

Thought I’d try a chicken shop delivery, and I have to say, well done! Excellent pizza cheesy garlic bread, great chicken strips, and most impressively, hot and fresh chips on delivery.

Another stop in our quest to find our favourite Indian takeaway. Spoiler alert, this isn’t it. While I thought my chicken korma and cheese naan were both top notch and cheap, my companion’s brinjal bhaji was apparently rather unappetising.

Chinese/Asian takeaway with a really broad menu. Had a delicious kung po chicken, with prawn toast – huge amount of this, and excellent.
Verdict: Awesome

Initially: Standard chippy, but just ok; chips a little dry. Superior options available.
Revised: I don’t know if they changed ownership or what, but the guy is a total legend and I think the crispy crunchy fish is probably the second best I’ve ever had.
