Cloud 9

Cute little place for coffee and cake (or ice cream or a shake) – highly recommend rainbow cake! Be aware that it is ONLY dessert-y things – brownies as well – but they are delicious.

Edendum

Brilliant Italian resto. Lovely interior, all wood and very intimate feeling. Food top notch, clearly home made gnocchi and delicious pizza. Desserts of chocolate mousse and cannolo really excellent too. Plus, lovely service and very reasonably priced.

MADE

Combination coffee shop, gallery and workshop space. Lovely space, really friendly people. But I have to say: avoid the cooked food. They haven’t the space for it and basically microwaved some bacon and poached some eggs on an electric hob for breakfast, and there’s many better places. But for coffee and cake, great choice.

Cin Cin

Tiny little Italian place with 18 covers, bar-style around a central area. And – wow.  All of it, amazing. Lovely focaccia with extra virgin olive oil. Amazing rabbit croquette.  Two pasta dishes incredible, especially one with lamb. And lovely dessert, and great people, and all at very reasonable prices. Spot on.

Verdict: Amazing

West Hill Tavern

Newly refurbished (although I never went to its previous incarnation) and really quite charming. Small, but full of character like overstuffed armchairs, fireplaces, that sort of thing. Popped in for a pint and enjoyed, menu looked nice but didn’t try. I wish them well but 4pm on a Saturday and almost empty doesn’t bode well.

The Joker

They call themselves a pub but they’re tending toward a bar – lots of seating outside, booths inside if you can get one, pretty loud music. Friendly vibe. Famous for its wings (“The Orange Buffalo” concession) and oh my stars rightly so. Skip the BBQ ones but the Original ones are just amazing. Mozzarella sticks and curly fries also great but my lips will still tingling twenty minutes later from those wings.

The Westbourne

Interesting pub split in two. We had a drink in the smaller bar, which is perfectly serviceable, but the larger part is more restaurant-y.  Food looked good.  Generally, just fine – bit lacking on the character side.

The Palmeira

Greene King pub and largely as you’d expect. Had nice gammon egg and chips, and a Mexican veggie burger. Loses points for being basic even for a Greene King.
